The Emperor's New Clothes: The Rest of the Story
Carl Weintraub as Emperor
Carl was fortunate to play King Lear for Dean Productions in 2019. He began his career at The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego in 1974 and has played on many stages and before many cameras since. In 1981, Carl founded We Tell Stories, which has performed over 17,500 shows to over 4,500,000 children. He produces BackStory, a bi-monthly evening of storytelling and poetry through the Victory Theatre. Carl thanks the venerable Lou Palter for teaching him how to act.
Laurie O'Brien as Servant
Laurie’s theatre, television, and film career has given her the opportunity to play roles ranging from lunatics and white trash, to the most beautiful woman in the world (Helen of Troy). Some favorites include the hussy Paulina in The Defiant Ones, ugly Denise Savage in Savage in Limbo (LADCC Award), crazy Mary Barnes in Mary Barnes (LADCC Award), compulsive Virginia in The Clean House, diva Meta Wolff in Times Like These (Ovation Award), and, of course, Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeare in Love.
Silas Kade as Minister
Silas Kade is a Los Angeles-based actor originally from the Midwest. Kade won Best Supporting Actor in a feature film at the Silicon Beach Film Festival in 2021 for their work as Fred in Binders. You can hear them as Sammy in the ongoing radio series “Mystery Hour” on Moon Glow Radio. Sometimes they dress up like a cat on their YouTube channel.
Sarah Schulte as Fool
Sarah “Sarahnade” Schulte is a SAG/AFTRA, AEA actress, singer/songwriter, and all around performer. Her most notable works include; “Fantomas: Revenge of the Image” International Tour in China, Nightwalk in the Chinese Garden as Mrs. Claremont, “When Colossus Falls” winner of Best Drama and Best Ensemble in a Drama at INK Fest 2019, “The Galen Project”- in which Schulte starred and Co-directed and won Best Female Direction from Los Angeles Women’s International Film Fest, and "just recently booked her first TV Pilot. Casey Alcoser as Guard
Casey Alcoser is an actor and writer based in Los Angeles. Theater: RANT, Mirror, Mirror, ARENA: A House Music-al, Gideon and the Blundersnorp, All's Well That Ends Well. Film/TV: Story of My Life, How to Make Her Cheat, The Faithful Brethren of Pitt Street. Casey also wrote the short films Whale Fall and Chimera, and recently won the 2023 Hollywood Producer's Encore Award for his one-man show, Coffee, Tea, and Gin: A Labor of Lovecraft. www.caseyalcoser.com
Jennifer Ashe as Peasant
Jennifer Ashe (AEA, SAG/AFTRA) Favorite credits include: Dean Productions’ King Lear, HFF23 award winning Things to Avoid at a Eulogy, 2Cents’ immersive Unreal City and Vote for Murder. Recent films include, Coming to Terms, Silhouette of a Ghost, and just completed Nowhere Pie. She was a member of NYC’s Manhattan Class Company with Bernie Telsey and enjoyed 10+ years on stage and television there. Christopher Hencke: Playwright
Chris is a native of Washington, D.C. and resident of Alexandria, Virginia. He has written a dozen stage plays and screenplays, and will probably write a few more. His plays include The Emperor’s New Clothes (winner of a playwriting contest sponsored by the Little Theatre of Alexandria in 2019); Grandpa’s Christmas Story (performed by West Virginia Theater East in 2023); and Who Killed Mr. Boddy? (co-written by Chris with his brother Tom and performed by West Virginia Theater East in 2019). Before retiring, Chris was an attorney with the federal government.
Rebecca Lynne: Director
Rebecca is the founder of Dean Productions. As a theatre director, her work has been seen around the world, including New York, London, New Jersey, Washington DC, Bali, and California. Among her solo directing credits are The Last Five Years, Into the Woods, Love’s Labour’s Lost, The Comedic Tragedy of Macbeth, The 39 Steps, Sleeping Beauty Ballet, The Lady of Shallot, The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Ghost Sonata, the Opera. Rebecca recently made her film directorial debut with Binders and The Rise of the Binders, the prequel mini-series.
Lawrence Joseph Rodriguez: Sound Designer
Lawrence hails from England. He studied music and sound engineering at college and has worked as a musician, sound engineer, and producer of music for over 5 years. He's a creative in general, and when it comes to sound he's very much a "figure it out somehow" kinda guy. He's always looking to be a part of a fun project no matter what it is.
